Toyota Supra Drift

Manabu Orido’s choice to drive the RS-R Toyota Supra JZA80 in the D1 Grand Prix is more personal than strategic because the Toyota Supra is not an ideal car for drifting. The Toyota Supra has a very heavy front end that makes getting traction to the rear wheels difficult because the weight distribution is so uneven. Typically, drivers look for drift cars like the Nissan Silvia and Mazda RX-7 that have almost equal front and rear weight distribution simply because they are easier to handle when drifting. This is why you don’t see many Supras in D1GP or other drifting events. Nevertheless, Orido chose the Toyota Supra because he drives a Supra in the JGTC series and he drives one on a daily basis as his personal car. Plus, Orido says, “If I had chosen the S15 or FD3S as my drift car, it would be easy for everyone to compare me to the other contenders. The individuality of the Supra enables me to be myself.”

Soon after Orido joined the D1 Grand Prix as a driver, an unfortunate transportation accident, caused by a sleeping truck driver, destroyed Orido’s prized RS-R Supra and forced him out of the tournament. Currently, Manabu “Max” Orido is pursuing his Japanese GT Championship career. As a big fan of Orido’s style, Supra, and drifting, I hope he will return to the sport of drifting.

Toyota Supra Black

Supra History:
The origin of the Celica dates back to 1970, when the first Celica was introduced into the Japanese auto market. Toyota, known for its reliable, basic transportation, felt that its position was strong enough for it to offer its first sporty model.
The Japanese economy was strengthening, and with it, the desire to drive something more exciting than the traditional, spartan Japanese automobile. This new attitude by Toyota was reflected first in 1967, with the 2000GT, a swoopy sports car built for Toyota by Yamaha. Featured in a contemporary James Bond film, the 2000GT, with its DOHC inline-6, would later become the inspiration for the Supra (the 2000GT name was also used on later Japanese Celicas and Supras) . As a sidenote, the legendary Datsun 240Z appeared in the same time frame, and may actually have been designed on the same concept as the 2000GT.

Toyota Supra White

1995 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo with less than 25K miles in pristine condition. It has never raced nor involved in an accident. The mileage is accurate and the car runs very well, it doesn't have any mechanical problems. It has been carefully driven, properly maintained, and stored in a climated-controlled garage. The exterior is white - presumably Alpine but possibly Pearl - with black leather interior. The engine configuration is a Twin Turbo 6-Speed with manual transmission and 320 HP at 5800 rpms. According to comparasions for the same model make & year, the car has a top speed of 155mph and reaches 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. The Supra features rack & pinion steering with power assist; vented disc brakes; and a rear wheel drive powertrain. This is an non-smoker car, it even has the original new car smell. The car is in perfect electrical, mechanical and cosmetic condition. Email me directly at: charles.royster@gmail.com Do not hesitate to email me with any questions!
